Hello, and Welcome!

I’m Dr. Graham Garwood, a Boston area licensed psychologist and therapist. I specialize in therapy with adults and young adults with self-esteem difficulties as well as those who have survived early childhood traumatic experiences, including abuse and neglect. I have found my personality to fit well with people who come to therapy for issues related to feeling overwhelmed, unfulfilled, and confused as well as those who want help with self-defeating patterns. My approach is to use my professional knowledge and experience to help clients develop insight, identity, and a sense of meaning while also teaching skills to live a more fulfilling life.

I am a therapist who pays careful attention to you, who you are, who you want to be, and how you will get there. In therapy, I place primary importance on helping you have the sense that whatever you are going through is more manageable because we are both working on it together. I have built effective working relationships with many types of individuals, with a large variety of issues (see below for more details). My office is a place where it is okay to feel any way you feel, think anything you think, and talk through it with another trusted person. Although sharing uncomfortable thoughts and feelings can be daunting, I have found that it greatly benefits patients who have the courage to undertake the process of thinking about themselves out loud to a skilled professional.

My office is located in Needham, MA.

Types of Therapy

I use multiple theoretical lenses and approaches to providing therapy, depending on individual patient needs. This flexibility allows me to be useful to a variety of individuals with varying problems. My integrative therapy approach is most informed by psychodynamic / psychoanalytic theories, attachment theory, dilectical behavior therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
